As temperatures are plummeting to below zero degree Celsius on January 18, hoarfrost has blanketed the top of Mount Fansipan – the highest peak in Indochina – in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai.
Intense cold is predicted to linger in the northern and north central regions for the next few days while whirlwinds, lightning, and strong gusts of wind are possible in the south central, Central Highlands, and southern regions.
Hoarfrost, formed from frozen steam, appeared in the northern mountainous provinces of Lao Cai and Cao Bang after a bout of chilly weather, with temperatures dropping below three degrees Celsius.
