A series of new government policies on e-portal passport applications, full automatic non-stop toll collections on the Hanoi-Hai Phong Expressway, reducing fees for chip-mounted ID, and abolishing foreign language and informatics certificates for medical officials, come into effect this month.
The national database on population, and a citizen ID card issuance and management system made debut on February 25 in the presence of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
Each Vietnamese citizen will be issued with a unique health ID card, which they will be able to use throughout their lives, according to the Ministry of Health.
More than 1,000 residents applied for the new identification cards at 31 authorised offices across Hanoi on the first day the city’s Police Department started issuing the cards, January 4.
