The second festival on Long Bien Bridge , which is famous for its
unique architecture and long history, officially opened on Nov. 20, with
artistic events depicting the theme “ Dragon Bridge tells story
about Thang Long-Hanoi”.

preparations for the 2010 Long Bien Festival to mark the 1,000th
birthday of
Thang Long-Hanoi.
A display of 1,000 kites and a carnival
will take place in the ancient imperial city of Hue at the start of a
series on events in different locations all the way up the country from
central Hue city to Long Bien Bridge in Hanoi, to mark the millennium
anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.

world and foreign embassies in Vietnam have registered to take part
in activities marking Hanoi’s 1,000th anniversary that will be held

A master plan for the capital of Hanoi
through 2030 with a vision to 2050 has received special attention
from the public as it is expected to create an image of a “green,
civilised, and modern” city.
I once saw an interesting picture on
one of my friends’ facebook page. The picture was of two identical
locks that were on a fence on a bridge. I though it was just a random
picture until recently, when I saw a picture of the Great Wall. It
wasn’t just another image, but a picture that highlighted a part of the
fence where a lot of locks were hung.

which becomes the first and only website on the capital city published in
four languages.

capital’s second flower festival, which kicked off on Dec. 30.

but now those managing the scheme are doubtful if it is a practical
goal.
Hanoi is holding a floral festival,
only the second of its kind, on the streets around Hoan Kiem Lake
(Sword Lake) in the centre of the capital from December 30, 2009, to
January 1, 2010, which will turn the area into a gigantic flower
basket.
