The Saigon Post and Telecommunication Company (Saigon Postel) and its Republic
of Korea ’s partner, SK Telecom, have decided to shift to the joint venture mode
of business in their joint mobile network S-Fone.
The country’s seventh mobile network
Beeline had 1 million of its simcards activated just 80 days after its
official launch, the service provider said.
The Vietnamese Government has created a
fair, healthy competitive environment for businesses involved in
information and communications technology (ICT), affirmed Deputy
Minister of Information and Communications Le Nam Thang.
Around 200 businesses from 18 countries
and territories will attend the Vietnam International Communications
Expo 2009 (Vietnam Comm 2009) and the International Exhibition on
Electronics Products in Vietnam 2009 (Vietnam Electronics 2009) slated
for Nov. 18-21 in Hanoi.
After VinaPhone and Viettel launched their new mobile
information services using 3G technology, many other telecom companies
have also announced their own plans to provid e this service ahead of
schedule, resulting in a new race in the Vietnamese telecoms market.
Licences to set up and provide 3G
telecom services were granted to Viettel, MobiFone, VinaPhone, and the joint venture between the EVN and
the Hanoi Telecom.

Nearly 200 domestic and foreign enterprises will participate in the annual international telecom and electronics exhibition and conference --Vietnam Comm and Vietnam Electronics 2009 - which will be held in Hanoi from Nov. 18-21.
