Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan offered nearly 200 gifts to contributors
to the nation’s revolution on July 12 in northern Nam Dinh and Ninh Binh
provinces on the occasion of the upcoming War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day
(July 27).
A ground breaking ceremony to build a boarding school for ethnic
students was held on July 8 in Thuan Mang commune in Ngan Son district
of the northern mountainous province of Bac Kan.
Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan met with 55 disadvantaged students from
all over the country with excellent academic records on May 28 on the
occasion of International Children’s Day (June 1).
Deputy Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Hong Lan,
accompanied by the heads of the National Fund for Vietnamese Children
(NFVC), visited children being treated for facial anomalies at the
Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital, Hanoi on May 26.
A month of action for children entitled “Listening to children” will be
launched across the country from now to June 1, aiming to promote laws
and policy as well as actions on ensuring children’s right to
participate.
The National Fund for Vietnamese Children (NFVC) plans to raise 75
billion VND (3.5 million USD) this year from domestic and
international resources for programmes to protect and care for children
and provide education assistance.
Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan has thanked Fashion Group Hyungji of the
Republic of Korea (RoK) for its support of poor children in Vietnam
besides its investment in the northern province of Bac Giang.
Scholarships under the “Together with
you to school” programme were presented to 120 disadvantaged children
in the northern mountainous province of Thai Nguyen on December 25 to
support their study.
Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan presented scholarships, each worth 3
million VND (142 USD, to 110 poor students excelling in studies at a
ceremony in the northern province of Bac Ninh on December 25.
The National Fund for Vietnamese Children (NFVC), in cooperation with
AIA Vietnam and the Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs of
the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho, launched the “Life’s Journey” programme
on November 6 to raise funds to buy bicycles for the city’s
disadvantaged children.
Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly (NA) Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan on
September 6 visited child patients who are being treated at the Vietnam –
Germany Friendship Hospital in Hanoi.
Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan on August 25 presented scholarships under
the programme “Together with children to school” to needy students in
the northern province of Hung Yen.
The National Fund for Vietnamese children (NFVC) and Chevron Vietnam
Ltd. in collaboration with the Mekong Delta City of Can Tho handed over
100 scholarships to disadvantaged students in the city at a ceremony on
August 12.

Thien Nhan on July 27 presented gifts to needy children in Phu Quoc
island district, the southern province of Kien Giang.
The National Fund for Vietnamese Children (NFVC) plans to raise 87
billion VND (over 4 million USD) in 2014, up 40.3 percent against 2013,
in a bid to care for 58,000 disadvantaged children.
A programme launched by the National Fund for Vietnamese Children in
1997 has so far helped treat nearly 20,000 kids with cleft lip and
palate, helping them better integrate into society.
