The Indonesia National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) announced an
end to the search for the bodies of the 56 people still missing from the
crash of an AirAsia flight last December on March 17.
Indonesia on February 28 announced the end of the search operation for
bodies and wreckage of the crashed AirAsia QZ8501 plane following the
retrieval of the final major part of the fuselage of the plane from the
sea.
Indonesia’s National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) said on January
16 that 51 bodies of victims on the ill-fated AirAsia Flight QZ8501 had
been found so far.
The tail section of the ill-fated AirAsia airplane that crashed into
Indonesia ’s Java Sea on December 28, 2014 was lifted up from
seabed on January 10. However, the black box was likely to drop off from
it.
A total of 41 bodies of victims on the ill-fated AirAsia flight QZ8501
which crashed into the Java Sea, Indonesia have been found so far, Chief
of the Indonesia National Search and Rescue Agency Bambang Soelistyo
said on January 7.
Two transport ministry officials and five airport operators who allowed
AirAsia Flight QZ8501 to take off without proper permits, have been
suspended, according to the Indonesian Transportation Ministry.
Strong undercurrents are hindering divers to search for sunken
wreckage from an AirAsia passenger jet which crashed into the Java
Sea on December 28, 2014 while en route from Indonesia to Singapore.
Search operations for the AirAsia plane, which crashed in the waters
off Indonesia’s Java coast on December 28, were suspended because of bad
weather, said Indonesia’s top rescue official.
The rescue team has recovered three bodies of passengers aboard the
ill-fated AirAsia flight QZ8501 that went missing on December 28, Chief
of the Indonesian National Search and Rescue Agency Marshall Bambang
Soelistyo said on December 30.
The AirAsia flight QZ8501, which disappeared with 162 people on board on
December 28, is likely to be at the bottom of the sea, said Indonesia’s
top rescue official.
