State President Nguyen Minh Triet has
called on Ho Chi Minh City to continue playing a leading role in
economic growth and renewal in 2010, a year with numerous challenges
ahead.
A solemn meeting was held in the
capital city of Hanoi on Feb. 2 to celebrate the 80th founding
anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) (Feb. 3).
The leadership and staff of the Vietnam
News Agency (VNA) need to make greater efforts to fulfill all the tasks
entrusted by the Party and government, and turn it into a powerful
national communication group.
The northern mountainous province of
Dien Bien should continue maintaining its high economic growth rate but
focus on the quality, said Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh.
National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong has asked the public security sector
to bring into play its experiences and achievements to raise the effectiveness
of state management of social order and security, fighting crimes and threats to
national security.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on
August 26 chaired an online teleconference with leaders from Bac Kan,
Thai Binh, Quang Tri, Ninh Thuan and Soc Trang provinces to seek ways
to fulfil their socio-economic goals.
Revolutionary generations of Laos and
Vietnam have been upholding and nurturing special relations between the
two countries, in accordance with the shared wishes of their
predecessors, said a top Lao leader on July 8.
