Thai people will get their first jabs of COVID-19 vaccine developed by the UK’s AstraZeneca and University of Oxford by mid-2021 at the earliest, said Nakhon Premsri, Director of the National Vaccine Institute (NVI) of Thailand.
Thailand’s Cabinet on November 17 gave permission to the Ministry of Public Health to pay 6 billion baht (200 million USD) and reserve 26 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine developed by British pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca.
Thailand is now able to produce new COVID-19 test kits itself with RT-PCR, a standard laboratory technique recognised by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
