Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue has approved the granting of rice from the national reserves to Cao Bang and Binh Dinh provinces to help needy people and those who were affected by storms and flooding.
Storm Matmo, which swept through the south central coast on October 30, has left one unaccounted for and 14 injured, all in Quang Ngai province, as of 8:00 am on November 1.
Matmo, the fifth storm this year, is moving west quickly and is forecast to reach the coastal areas of central Quang Ngai to Khanh Hoa provinces this evening, according to the latest report from the National Hydro-meteorological Forecast Centre.
National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines and budget airline Jetstar Pacific have announced plan to adjust schedules of their flights to and from Nha Trang, Phu Yen, Quy Nhon, Da Lat, Pleiku and Buon Ma Thuot on October 30 as storm Matmo is approaching the central coastal and Central Highlands regions.
