The ASEAN Secretariat and the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) co-organised an event in Jakarta, Indonesia, on December 3 to commemorate late Surin Pitsuwa, who served as 12th ASEAN Secretary-General from 2008-2012.

Former Secretary General of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Surin Pitsuwan died of a heart attack on November 30 at the age of 68.
