“Fully aware of the challenges posed by drug trafficking, Vietnam gives high
priority to drug prevention and control,” said a Vietnamese representative at
the UN Security Council’s open debate on drug trafficking in New York on Dec. 8.
A 1.7 million USD project to strengthen the capacity of the
Government Inspectorate and the Vietnamese Government in monitoring and
reporting on corruption was launched in Hanoi on October 29.
The fight against corruption is meeting
with more difficulties as those involved are becoming more and more
cunning in their actions, said Vietnamese and foreign experts in the
field.
Vietnam will host a meeting of senior officials to discuss a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on drug control amongst countries in the Mekong Delta sub-region in 2010.
