A delegation of war veterans from the Transport Regiment 410 of
Vietnam’s High Command 959 is visiting old battlefields in Laos ,
where they had fought during the war.
Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has sent a message to thank Lao
Party General Secretary and State President Choummaly Sayasone, leaders
of the Party, State, National Assembly and Prime Minister and the
entire people of Laos for their warm hospitality, showing the
Vietnam-Laos special solidarity.
The Vietnam-Laos relationship was the invaluable treasure of the
two nations and an element ensuring the success of the
revolutionary cause of each country, said a joint statement issued on
June 22 in Vientiane, Laos.
Party General Secretary and National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong
said that he hoped the Vietnamese and Lao NAs and their legislative
agencies would enhance exchanges of expertise in legislative, supreme
supervision and other important issues of the country.
Politburo member and HCM City Party Committee Secretary Le Thanh Hai
congratulated Laos on the successful completion of the 9th National
Congress of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP), during a
meeting with visiting Lao Deputy Prime Minister Thoongloun Sisoulith
here on March 29.
A Vietnam-Laos friendship golf tournament was held by the Vietnamese
embassy in Vientiane on March 26 to welcome the success of the
ninth National Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and New
Year Bun Pi May.
The Vietnam-Laos Friendship Parliamentary Group, led by its head Nguyen
Van Son held talks with the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Group,
led by Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Saysomphone Phomvihane in
Vientiane on December 7.
A delegation of former Vietnamese experts and voluntary soldiers, led
by the Deputy Chairman of the War Veterans Association, Tao Van Khun, is
paying a visit to Laos from Oct. 20-26.
A Vietnam-Laos special cultural
exchange programme was held at the Lao National Cultural Palace on Jan.
15 to celebrate the 35 th anniversary of the two countries’ friendship
associations (Jan. 15).
Vietnam -Laos Friendship Association President Vu Trong Kim led a delegation to
visit Laos to further promote ties between the two countries from Dec.
9-15.
A photography exhibition was held in
the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak on December 1 to mark the 34
th anniversary of Laos’ National Day (Dec. 2, 1975-2009).
Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Douangchay
Phichith received in Vientiane on August 21 a delegation of Vietnamese
voluntary soldiers and experts, who fought and worked in Laos .
A high-ranking Vietnamese delegation
attended a workshop on the life and revolutionary career of late Lao
President Souphanouvong, held in Vientiane on July 7 on the occasion of
his 100 th birthday (July 13).
