Head of the Party Central Committee’s Mass Mobilisation Commission Truong Thi Mai held a working session in Hanoi on July 20 with leaders of the Foreign Ministry and the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs (SCOV) to review the mass mobilisation work for Vietnamese community abroad in the current context.
A ceremony was held in the mountainous district of Huong Hoa, the central province of Quang Tri, on October 2 to announce and present the President’s decision on granting Vietnamese citizenship to Lao migrants living in border areas.
As many as 88 Lao nationals currently residing in the north-western province of Son La were granted Vietnamese citizenship during a ceremony held in the province on September 18.
As many as 17 Lao nationals living in Dak Glei district of the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum were granted Vietnamese citizenship certificates during a ceremony on May 21.
As many as 119 Lao nationals living in Vietnam were granted Vietnamese citizenship certificates during a ceremony held in the central province of Quang Tri on December 12.
