The rate of ‘foreign’ honeybee species kept in Vietnam should be raised from 75 percent at present to 80 percent in 2020 in order to increase the quality and productivity of honey, heard a conference in Hanoi on August 17.
Vietnam has been allowed to export honey to the European Union (EU) since March 2013, but its shipments to the market account for a small proportion of the country’s total honey exports.
While many farm produce have been struggling to seek the way to reach
foreign consumers, bee honey is enjoying a sweet taste of success in the
global market.
The Central Highland province of Dak
Lak expects to export more than 6,000 tonnes of honey this year,
representing more than 54.5 percent of the country’s total export
volume.
