Vietnamese vegetables and fruits are eyeing various potential markets from Asia to Europe, and from the Middle East to North America and America, in which quality requirements and standards are high, prompting domestic exporters to work harder to conquer, said experts at a forum in Ho Chi Minh City on March 1.
With the annual import value of vegetables and fruit amounting to more than 6 billion pounds (equivalent to 8.4 billion USD), the United Kingdom is a promising market for vegetables and fruit of Vietnam, heard a webinar organised by the Vietnam Trade Office in the UK.
The Cambodian government and management agencies have yet to issue any official documents banning the import of Vietnamese vegetables and fruits, according to the Asia-Africa Market Department under the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT).
Many start-ups have brought their technologies and products into the market in 2017-2019 thanks to financial and technical assistance for R&D provided by the HCM City Department of Science and Technology’s SpeedUp innovation and start-up programme.
The export value of Vietnamese vegetables and fruits is estimated at 269 million USD in July, bringing the total turnover in the first seven months of 2019 to 2.31 billion USD, down 0.8 percent year on year.
Vietnam’s export turnover of vegetables and fruits reached 283 million USD in June, bringing the figure in the first half of 2017 to 1.7 billion USD, up 45 percent from the same period last year.
