Fifty outstanding companies out of 400
members of the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) received awards for their
performance at a ceremony held in Hanoi on Oct. 12.
Rubber prices have reached their
highest level so far this year and are currently at around 2,000 USD
per tonne, an increase of 200 USD over the average price in September,
according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

organisations joined representatives from various Vietnamese ministries

A pilot programme to monitor origins and quality of seafood

The Ministry of Industry and Trade
forecasts that export earnings from farm-forestry-aquatic products will
face a slight decrease of 6 percent to stand at 12.4 billion USD for
the whole year.
Although investment in agriculture and rural areas has improved
remarkably in recent years, the number of projects and the volume of
investment capital in this sector are still less than in other economic
sectors.
According to the Foreign Investment
Agency under the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI), in
2008, the agro-forestry-fisheries sector attracted 45 new projects with
a combined investment of over 252 million USD; accounting for 3.8
percent of all projects and 0.42 percent of newly registered
investment. The respective percentages for the first eight months of
the year were 2.57 percent and 0.46 percent.
The Prime Minister has given permission
for the Government Office and the Ministry of Natural Resources and
Environment to hold an international forum on climate change in the
Mekong Delta region in the southern city of Can Tho on October 15-16.
The Prime Minister has approved the
content of a draft framework agreement between Vietnam and Cuba on the
development of rice production there in the 2009-2015 period.
Vietnam ’s seafood exports will certainly be influenced by the
strict requirements stated in the European Commission (EC)’s Regulation
1005, to take effect in January 2010, said a Vietnamese official.
Vietnam would ratify a global treaty on illegal fishing, if
approved, anticipating that it would boost seafood exports, said an
official of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).
The National Assembly’s Economic
Committee on September 23 held its 8th session, focusing on the results
of the implementation of the national electric power development
strategy for 2006-2015.
Vietnam needs international assistance
for a programme to develop a new model in rural areas in the 2010-2010
period, with an estimated average of between 120-150 billion VND for
each commune.
