Farmers in Binh Phuoc province, the country’s largest cashew producer, are facing unfavourable weather and the possibility of a poor harvest during the current blooming season.
Vietnam’s cashew industry has targeted 300,000 tonnes of cashew exports at a value of 3 billion USD this year, a year-on-year reduction of 50,000 tonnes in volume and 500 million USD in value.
Many farmers in the southern provinces of Binh Thuan, Binh Phuoc and Ba Ria – Vung Tau have been encountering difficulties due to a poor cashew crop caused by bad weather and plant diseases.
