The excavation of Kinh Thien Palace in 2016 continues to demonstrate the variety and complexity of the relics within the main area of the palace at Vietnam’s world heritage Thang Long Royal Citadel.
An additional 11 historical, architectural and archaeological relics nationwide have been listed as special national relic sites following a decision by the Prime Minister.
A series of traces revealing the most sufficient evidence of cultural
layers dating from the 11th century to 20th century have been detected
in the Kinh Thien Palace of the Thang Long Imperial Citadel’s central
section.
The archaeological excavation of the ancient Imperial Citadel of Thang
Long, which was recognised as the World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO in
2010, has revealed evidence dating from the 11th century to 19th
century.
The acknowledgment of Lam Kinh historical site reflects the deep
gratitude of Vietnamese people towards their ancestors for their
contributions to the cause of fighting against foreign invaders,
protecting the national sovereignty and developing the country. Report

Archaeologists have unearthed a section of the relics of the Thang Long
Imperial Citadel wall dating back to the Le So (Early Le) Dynasty
(15th-18th century), saying it will help with research into the citadel.
