The US Agency for International Development (USAID) on February 19
announced that it has contracted with TerraTherm Inc. to carry out
thermal remediation of dioxin at Da Nang airport in the central city
of the same name.
Plans to build a memorial centre that focuses on the toxic chemicals US forces used during the war in the central province of Thua Thien – Hue was discussed at a conference in Hanoi on October 30.
Twenty-four people from the central city of Da Nang, who have
high dioxin concentrations in their blood, were discharged from Military
Hospital 103 in Hanoi on October 11 after a month-long
detoxification course.

Vietnam and the US have reached
consensus on directions to address the consequences of Agent
Orange/dioxin in the Southeast Asian country, including the
establishment of a health task force.
