Rice plays a key strategic part in Vietnam’s agricultural sector, said a
draft plan on restructuring Vietnam’s rice production to 2020.
Rice exports down in January
Vietnam exported over 307,000 tonnes of rice in the first month of 2014
for a FOB (free-on-board) value of around 127.6 million USD, a yearly
decrease of 24.11 percent in volume and 30.5 percent in value.
Farmers face difficult as rice exports drop off
Rice exports for September is estimated at about 650,000 tonnes,
bringing the third quarter's total to 1.84 million tonnes, 230,000
tonnes less than planned.
