Hand, foot and mouth disease is reaching its peak season in HCM City, with incidence doubling last month from August, according to the city Preventive Medicine Centre.

Hanoi recorded 1,193 cases of measles since the beginning of this year, however, there has been no death from this disease, according to the city's health authorities.

New cases of communicable diseases in Ho Chi Minh City have gradually declined, but the figure stayed at a high level, said the municipal Preventive Medicine Centre.

Health experts have urged parents to have their babies fully vaccinated in order to create a barrier of immunisation for the whole community as several infectious diseases are raging across the country.

The number of children infected with hand, foot and mouth disease in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho has sharply increased since last month, according to the municipal Preventive Medical and Heath Care Centre.

The Ministry of Health has asked people across the country to take protective measures against hand, foot, and mouth disease after data from the ministry’s General Department of Preventive Medicine showed that over 2,100 people had contracted the disease in 57 localities this year.
