received the certificate of the recognition of the moon worshipping
ritual of the Khmer ethnic minority group as the national intangible
cultural heritage on November 6.
The Steering Committee and Organising Board of the 2014 Mekong
Delta Economic Cooperation Forum (MDEC) held a meeting in Soc Trang
province on November 7 to review and issue the forum’s joint statement.

Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism asking for it to recognise the
Ok Om Bok Festival, a moon worshipping ritual of the Khmer ethnic
minority group, as a national intangible cultural heritage.
The Ngo boat race of Khmer people in the Mekong delta, which has been
upgraded to become a festival this year, concluded in Soc Trang province
on November 17, after four days of various cultural activities.
A rice and trade-tourism promotion fair opened in the southern province
of Tra Vinh on November 12, kick-starting the traditional Ok Om Bok
festival – a moon worshipping occasion for the Khmer ethnic minority in
Vietnam.
