The sapper force under the military command of the northern province of Son La on October 13 removed a war-time bomb found in a residential area and safely destroyed it.

Vietnam will push ahead with the settlement of wartime unexploded ordnance (UXO) consequences and also expects continued assistance from international partners in this work, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh told a conference in Hanoi on February 17.

A delegation of foreign military attachés in Vietnam on July 26 visited the Hanoi-based Vietnam National Mine Action Centre (VNMAC), where they were briefed on post-war bomb and mine pollution in the country.

The National Mine Action Programme for 2010-2025 has helped survivors of war-time bombs and mines return to normal life and raised public awareness of bomb and mine risks.

The State Steering Committee on National Mine Action Programme called on donors and non-governmental organisations to constructively take part in the Mine Action Partnership Group (MAPG).
