The potential for organic agricultural development in Vietnam is still great and the opportunity for organic agricultural products from Vietnam to enter Australia is very promising in the near future, said Nguyen Van Kien, Director of Canberra-based Mekong Organics Company.
The total organic farming area in Vietnam expanded from 12,120ha to 76,666ha between 2007 and 2015, faster than the global average pace, said Director of the Vietnam Agricultural Extension Centre Tran Van Khoi.
Failing to meet food safety regulations remains the biggest issue that Vietnamese firms must overcome in entering foreign markets, said Rick Gilmore of the Global Food Safety Forum at a workshop on April 26.
