The Hanoi Customs Department will accelerate its use of information
technology (IT) in the customs process to promote transparency,
simplicity, and modernity in the sector.
The country's tax revenues in the first five months of this year
continued to grow despite reduction in tax collection from crude oil,
according to the General Department of Taxation.
Although tax revenues from crude oil declined following plunging
world prices, domestic tax collections rose in the first four months of
2015, the General Department of Taxation's report showed.
The Prime Minister has requested ministries and localities continue
efforts to expedite adopted measures and solutions stated in Party,
National Assembly and Government resolutions.
Budget revenues were estimated at 226 trillion VND (10.5 billion USD) in
the first quarter, up 10.3 percent year on year and meeting 24.8
percent of collection plans, according to Deputy Finance Minister Vu Thi
Mai.
After one year of application, the Vietnam Automated Cargo and Port
Consolidated System/Vietnam Customs Information System (VNACCS/VCIS) has
greatly benefited enterprises, especially in saving time for customs
clearance, reported the Vietnam Customs.
Experts suggested policies that the Government can implement in response
to plunging oil prices at a conference organised by the National Centre
for Socio-Economic Information and Forecast on February 6.
It has become mandatory since January 20 for e-commerce or social
network sellers to register their transactions in order to facilitate
tax collection.
Ho Chi Minh City’s budget collection in 2014 reached 252.1 trillion
VND (over 11.8 billion USD), 111.44 percent of the yearly estimate, and
11.4 percent above the 2013 collection, as released at a conference in
the city on January 15.
The General Department of Taxation has to date conducted tax inspections
over more than 67,800 enterprises, accounting for 14 percent of the
total operating ones, heard a conference in Hanoi on December 26.
Residents’ satisfaction about most local public services in Ho Chi Minh
City was rated as above average, according to results of a recent survey
by the municipal People’s Committee.
The tax authorities will audit enterprises which have allegedly made
suspicious transactions, according to a list provided by the State Bank
of Vietnam 's Anti-Money Laundering Information Centre.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has asked the taxation sector to focus on
reducing troublesome procedures in tax payment and impose strict
punishments on officers who harass the people and businesses.
Some 335 trillion VND (15.7 billion USD) has been collected from taxes
in the first half of 2014, up 14.5 percent year on year and equal to
53.7 percent of the annual tax collection plan.
The tax authorities must continuously reform administrative procedures
as there are many shortcomings, said Finance Minister Dinh Tien Dung at a
conference in Hanoi on July 3.
State budget collection in the first half of this year was estimated at
over 335 trillion VND (15.7 billion USD), up14.5 percent over the same
period last year.
In recent days, many major French newspapers are running articles
protesting against China’s unjustified hegemony and its illegal
placement of the oil rig Haiyang Shiyoug-981 in the East Sea.
Hanoi collected over 162 trillion VND (7.7 billion USD) in taxes
this year, 0.3 percent higher than its annual target, the municipal Tax
Department has reported.
