Vietnam is one of the 13 countries that have tigers in the wild, yet
it is facing an urgent challenge in protecting the species, which is
being pushed to the brink of extinction due to economic and social
pressures.
The Vietnam National Museum of Nature, designed to be the leading
museum of its kind in Vietnam, opened a new exhibition hall on the
evolution of living things on May 16.

The number of wild tigers in Vietnam has shrunk from 100 a decade ago
to fewer than 50, said Le Xuan Canh, director of the Institute of
Ecology and Biological Resources.
