The Ministry of Transport in collaboration with the Hanoi People's Committee and the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam held a ceremony to inaugurate the Cat Linh-Ha Dong metro line on January 13.

The Vietnam Register Authority under the Ministry of Transport announced it has completed the assessment and issued technical safety and environmental protection certification for 13 trains and other related components of the Cat Linh-Ha Dong urban railway, Hanoi’s long-delayed first metro project.

Traffic jam continue to be a big issue for Hanoi despite heavy investment in transport infrastructure in the city. The problem was the focus of a workshop held in Hanoi on October 24.

The Ministry of Transport’s main task this year is to speed up transport projects, Deputy Minister Nguyen Ngoc Dong said at a meeting to review 2017 and set goals for 2018 in January 18.

The management board of the HCM City urban railway projects held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of an underground session from Ben Thanh station to the municipal Opera House station.

The UK hopes to develop urban railway projects and expand Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City.
