An Overseas Vietnamese girl in Germany, Bui Ngoc Han Julia, has won the first prize in the girls’ division at her host country’s Youth U10 Individual Chess Championships, which will send her to the World Chess Championships in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.
Born in 2003 to a Vietnamese family in Dresden , Han was fond of playing chess at a very early age. She won the first prize at the U8 event in the German state of Sachsen when she was only seven years old.
Han was honoured at a meeting hosted by Overseas Vietnamese in Berlin recently, which saw the presence of First Secretary of the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany Nguyen Thi Bich Thao, who presented Han a certificate of merit of Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany Nguyen Thi Hoang Anh.
Thao said she hopes the Vietnamese community in Germany will always encourage their second and third generations to do more for the Fatherland.-VNA
