Hau Giang (VNA) – A seminar on promoting the application of technological advances in the product value chain took place in the Mekong Delta province of Hau Giang on July 14, which was a major event within the framework of the Mekong Delta – Hau Giang economic cooperation forum 2016.
Speaking at the event, deputy head of the Steering Committee for the Southwestern Region Tran Minh Thong suggested the Mekong Delta build a regional farm produce quality monitoring centre, launch new models in choosing varieties, and adopt post-harvest preservation technologies in the value chain of agricultural production, focusing on rice, farmed fish and fruit.
Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Dong Van Thanh said technological adoption is expected to lower costs and meet food safety requirements, towards bringing more Vietnamese products to global markets.
Co-hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Steering Committee for the Southwestern Region and the provincial People’s Committee, the event discussed improving the efficiency of the value chain of rice production in large-scale fields, recommended advanced technologies used in fruit cultivation, suggested connectivity models for the aquaculture value chain, as well as technology transfer for the Mekong Delta.-VNA
