Two Vietnamese telecommunications giants, Vinaphone and MobiFone, said they have readied their networks to meet the surging demand in the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday (Tet).
MobiFone has added 1,000 transceivers to its whole network to avoid sudden congestion, particularly on New Year’s Eve. It plans to send eight mobile transceiver stations to crowded places and optimise its wireless network.
It has also devised measures to improve the quality of 3G services, especially in trade and entertainment centres, headquarters of ministries and agencies in big cities, and dense residential areas.
Meanwhile, Vinaphone has completed a project to enhance its network capacity, for example upgrading its Evolved High-Speed Packet Access in all 63 provinces and cities, and applying advanced technology to raise 3G service quality in major hubs.
It has put into use nearly 800 new transceiver stations and four switchboards and bettered domestic and international roaming services.
However, telecom providers are still advising clients to prevent network congestion by not messaging New Year greetings to too many people at the same time or in the very first moments of the Lunar New Year. They also recommend using the 3G network instead of the 2G one.-VNA
