The host also suggested that the Tanzanian side ensure operation and safety of Halotel’s workers and assets, and support the joint venture to improve its services.

In response, the Tanzanian minister affirmed that Halotel has made contributions to Tanzania’s socio-economic development, especially for its nationwide coverage.

Halotel has offered opportunities for Tanzanian people in poor rural and remote areas to access vast information source, thus raising their livelihood, he added.

At the meeting, both sides agreed to further expand cooperation in information and communications sector, especially to support Tanzania’s development in information and communication technologies (ICT) so that the country will become an ICT centre in East Africa in the coming time.-VNA
