Vietnam’s top tennis player Ly Hoang Nam reached the semi-final stage at the Egypt F27 Men’s Futures, which is taking place at Sharm El Sheikh town in Egypt.

This is the first time Nam has progressed this far at a competition of this kind.

Unseeded Nam, 18, came from behind to beat fifth seed and 29-year-old Baris Erguden of Turkey 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 in the quarter-finals.

Nam had 10 aces in the match and only made two double faults.

Reaching the semi-final stage also gives Nam six points, which will help him improve his place in the ATP ranking, which currently stand at 1317th.

Nam’s opponent in the semi-finals will be second-seeded Daniel Cox of Great Britain.

Previously, in the second round, Nam had an easy win over Cameron Silverman of the United States.
