Bangkok (VNA/NNT) - Thai Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Chatchai Sarikalya has visited Japan to boost bilateral cooperation in agriculture and fisheries.

During his stay in Tokyo, the minister met with Keiichi Ishii, Japanese Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. He thanked the Japanese government for assisting Thailand in water management through Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). 

Then Chatchai Sarikalya and Yuji Yamamoto, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan signed a memorandum of understanding on combating IUU fishing between the two ministries.

This deal would benefit Thailand greatly, as products from fisheries account for 21.37 percent of its entire exports.-VNA
