Addressinga press briefing in Bangkok on April 5, Supreme Commander SongkittiJaggabatara joined the Army, Navy and Air Force chiefs jointly issued adeclaration which stated that the national armed forces will not allowany third country’s representative to act as supervisor atThailand-Cambodia border area.

The Thai army will not attendthe meeting of the Thailand-Cambodia General Border Committee (GBC)slated for April 7-8 in Bogor , Indonesia , according to the jointdeclaration.

Meanwhile the Thai Foreign Ministry affirmed thatAsda Jayanama, who is in charge of the Cambodia-Thailand Joint BoundaryCommission (JBC) will attend a JBC meeting with Cambodian officials inBogor on April 7-8, despite the fact that Thai parliament has yet toapprove documents agreed between Thailand and Cambodia in previous JBCmeetings and that the GBC meeting may not take place.

Secretary to Thai Foreign Minister, Chavanond Intarakomalyasut, saidThailand will not sign any document at the upcoming JBC meeting. Thetwo sides will only review the progresses on Cambodia-Thailand landborder demarcation.

After the blooding clashes in earlyFebruary, ASEAN had urged Thailand and Cambodia to restrainthemselves and solve the disputes via peaceful measures at the ASEANForeign Ministers’ Retreat in Jakarta , Indonesia from Feb. 22-24.

The two countries have agreed to hold talks within the framework of GBCand JBC meetings with Indonesia acting as the intermediation.However, the commitments made by Thailand and Cambodia have notseen any progress./.

Thailand’s business activity shows signs of gradual recovery

As of August 31, Thailand had more than 1 million active legal entities with total registered capital of 24.13 trillion THB. The service sector accounted for the largest share, with 552,830 entities, or 54.48%, followed by wholesale and retail with 332,791 entities (32.79%) and manufacturing with 129,215 (12.73%).
