Bangkok (VNA/NNT) - The Department of Skill Development (DSD) has provided a 30-hour cooking course for cooks in Ayutthaya province in the hope of promoting Thailand as a hub of food for the ASEAN region and the world.

Ayutthaya Governor Prayoon Rattanaseni said the course was also a joint effort between DSD, Suan Dusit University and Phranakorn Si Ayutthaya Rajabhat University.

Many chefs, as well as operators of famous restaurants in Ayutthaya, have signed up for the cookery course in which they will be taught how to prepare and cook 10 famous Thai dishes such as Tom Yam Koong, Pad Thai and Nam Prik Pla Tu to name a few.

They will get to learn how to select and prepare ingredients as well as how to cook them.

Mr. Prayoon believed students will truly benefit from the course. He added the government’s ‘Thai Kitchen to the World’ policy is aimed at making Thailand a food hub of the world.

Foreigners have not only been impressed with Thai food but also the hospitality they received from Thai people when they visit the restaurants.-VNA
