Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan on November 14 presented the Independence Order, first class, to the Thai Binh Medical University at a ceremony celebrating its 45th founding anniversary.

Founded in 1968, the university provides higher education in medicine to graduates and postgraduates, as well as studies and applies advanced technologies to examinations, diagnosis and treatment.

Over the past 45 years, the university has trained 17,000 doctors and pharmacists, including 600 from Laos and Cambodia, contributing to providing human resources in the health care sector for Vietnam and its two neighbouring countries.

The university was one of the first institutions to build a hospital in its campus. The 200-bed facility helps treat more than 140,000 people each year.-VNA
