A group of Thai entertainment companies was reported in discussions to take over Bolton Wanderers, a second division football club in England, after being approached by the cash strapped strugglers, according to Thai media.

The group includes BEC-Tero, an entertainment conglomerate which runs television Channel 3 and radio stations in Southeast Asia as well as concerts and sports events, and Siam Sport Syndicate, a sports media giant company. They will join hands for the purchase.

BEC-Tero and Siam Sport will send their executive officials to England to discuss further about the possible deal with Bolton.

They could become the third Thai owners of an English soccer club after Premier League side Leicester City and Reading, a Bolton rival in Football league championship.

Bolton finished sixth in the Premier League in 2005 and qualified for European competition but has fallen into a hard time with huge debts. However, BEC Director Bryan Marcar said that the club remains an attractive prospect, Bangkok Post newspaper reported.

BEC-Tero now owns BEC Tero Sasana club, a former Thai Premier League champion, while Siam Sport Syndicate is a multi-media company specialising in all type of sports information and a sports event organising unit as well.-VNA
