Twenty-six couples gathered in Pattaya, Thailand in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest hug.
On Valentine’s Day, 26 couples set a new record for the world’s longest hug as they wrapped their arms around each other for 26 hours, 26 minutes and 26 seconds, breaking the previous record set by an English couple.
According to the organisers, the video will sent to the Guinness World Record officials for the confirmation of the record.
Apart from the hugging marathon, a lucky draw was also held to find a winner who walks away with a pair of diamond rings worth around 50,000 THB. The winner was a 29-year-old man.
The rules dictated that all contestants must hug their partners continuously and both arms must be wrapped around each other at all times. If the hug weakens or the arms drop, the couple would then be disqualified. Each couple must remain awake at all times and can only take a five-minute break each hour, in accordance with the Guinness World Record rules.-VNA
