Thai economy not affected by EU’s downgrading of ties

The Bank of Thailand (BOT) has assured the public that the kingdom’s economy will not be affected by the European Union’s recent downgrading of ties.
The Bank of Thailand (BOT) has assured the public that the kingdom’seconomy will not be affected by the European Union’s recent downgradingof ties.

BOT Governor Prasarn Trairatworakul said thatThailand’s exports are currently not impacted by the EU’s response tothe coup, as the bloc did not boycott Thai goods. The union has earlierstated that measures taken by it are not sanctions.

Heelaborated that if the EU intends to impose sanctions against Thailand, only a number of sectors will be affected. Thailand’s totalexports to the region are not considered as high as those exported toother markets.

Thailand’s reputation has also suffered from accusations of slavery in the fishing industry.

Private and public sectors have been clarifying any misconceptions tothe international community to prevent Thai products from beingtarnished by the human trafficking allegations.-VNA

Thailand’s business activity shows signs of gradual recovery

As of August 31, Thailand had more than 1 million active legal entities with total registered capital of 24.13 trillion THB. The service sector accounted for the largest share, with 552,830 entities, or 54.48%, followed by wholesale and retail with 332,791 entities (32.79%) and manufacturing with 129,215 (12.73%).
