Thailand' exporters have again lowered their export projection for this year in another addition to 0.25 percent, declining from the previous forecast of 1.6 percent expansion due to the weak recovery of global economic growth.

This year, exports would not be a key economic driver because of many negative factors, according to vice chairman of the National Shippers Council Vallop Vitanakorn.

However, it is expected that exports will expand by 4 percent in 2015, in line with the GDP growth of 4.5 percent, the council said.

Exports in 2013 dropped by 0.32 percent year on year and declined by 1.36 percent to 150.54 billion USD in the first eight months of this year, the Ministry of Commerce reported.

Earlier, the International Monetary Fund has projected disappointing growth for the world economy this year, so it will be difficult to count on trade growth in many countries.

It is expected that Thai exports would definitely miss the projection of 3.5 percent growth for the full year, however, the exports were expected to grow by only more than 1 percent for the whole year.-VNA
