Thailand is keeping a close watch on the measures the US might impose on its garment after it ranked the country as the lowest Tier 3 of its human rights watch list.
President of the Thai Garment Manufacturers’ Association Sukit Kongpiyajarn expressed his confidence that Thailand’s ranking will not affect trade, especially in garment, one of the industries allegedly use child labour and forced labour.
China is also enjoying normal trade with the US although it was ranked as Tier 3, Sukit said.
He, however, admitted that child labour and forced labour had been found in garment factories along the Thai borders. The situation started to improve after alien workers were regulated.-VNA
