Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej has approved the interim constitution, the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) announced on July 22.

The provisional charter is scheduled to take effect right from this month, paving the way for the establishment of an interim legislature and government and a reform council.

Details of the constitution are expected to be published on July 23.

In a televised speech on June 27, junta chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha said an official constitution will be promulgated in July 2015, and a general election will take place three months later.-VNA
