The Thai Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (MSDHS) has held a meeting to implement emergency measures and an action plan against trafficking in persons, particularly women and children.

MSDHS Minister Adul Sangsingkeo said that a Women and Children's Trafficking Control Directing Centre has been established to systemize cooperation between all related government and private agencies.

It will assume comprehensive responsibility to provide victims with immediate help in various ways especially prevention, suppression, protection, and rehabilitation. It also provides equipment and well-trained personnel to separate women and children from other victims and accommodate them in an appropriate place.

More female interpreters of various languages will be provided when investigating foreign victims at provincial police stations. Meanwhile, security agencies in border provinces must jointly patrol their areas regularly and keep entertainment venues regulated.

The measures are both proactive and reactive strategies of the MSDHS designed to gain obvious short-term and long-term results.-VNA
