A majority of Thai people agree that caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and the protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban should hold direct talks in a bid to end the current political deadlock, according to a Suan Dusit poll.

The poll was conducted on 1,354 people across the country, with close to 71 percent of respondents supporting bilateral talks as they said this is a feasible solution to the current crisis.

About 23 percent said they are uncertain about the survey as it did not give a date, time, or an exact form of talks, while a mere 6 percent disagreed, saying it could widen the conflict.

Around 92 percent of the questioned agreed that the talks should be broadcast live on TV, whilst 8 percent opposed, saying that speaking live will make it hard for the two sides to share their opinions in full.-VNA
