The Speaker of the Lower House said that 246 MPs voted for Abhisit to continue serving as premier, with 186 voting against him.
The five cabinet members are Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thuagsuban, Interior Minister Chavarat Charnvirakul, Transport Minister Sophon Zarum, Finance Minister Korn Chatikavaniji and Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya.
The Cabinet is scheduled to convene later in the day because PM Abhisit had earlier announced he would carry out a cabinet reshuffle following the no-confidence vote.
The opposition proposed the vote of no-confidence against PM Abhisit and the five cabinet members, accusing them of violating human rights by using troops to break up protests by the anti-government group, the “red-shirts”./.
