Bangkok (NNT/VNA) - The Prime Minister of Thailand has delivered this year’s Industry Awards to companies demonstrating a remarkable performance, stressing the government’s preparedness to upgrade the country’s industrial sector.

The Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha presided over the ceremony announcing the Prime Minister’s Industry Awards 2020, held this year for the 28th consecutive year.

The Prime Minister gave a speech congratulating the award winners, emphasising the important role of the industrial sector in driving the national economy towards the 4.0 era, especially in the current situation where the global economy has been under pressure.

The Prime Minister urged companies to implement technology and innovation to improve their manufacturing capacity, and creativity to add value to their products and services, helping improve the competitiveness of Thailand’s industrial sector.

In addition, the Prime Minister asked for companies to care more about their consumers, from the aspect of safety to environmental consciousness, especially given the current air pollution crisis.

As Thailand is one of the countries that have successfully controlled the spread of COVID-19, the Prime Minister asked businesses to help promote confidence among the general public, while using understanding to reduce obstacles, in order to pass through the problem together.

He asked the companies to help promote growth, as well as respect human rights while doing businesses.

The Prime Minister then delivered 79 Prime Minister’s Industry Awards to this year’s winners, with the grand award, the Prime Minister’s Best Industry Award, given to F&N Dairies (Thailand) Limited. He later viewed exhibitions by the winning companies before returning to Government House./.
