Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha has encouraged Singaporean entrepreneurs to invest in Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and told his Singaporean counterpart that general elections will be held next year.

On the last day of General Prayut’s official visit to Singapore, he and his wife Naraporn Chan-o-cha will travel to the Botanic Gardens and join an orchid naming ceremony.

Both are scheduled later to meet with Thai athletes who are competing in the 28th SEA Games in a show of support, before joining a discussion with Singaporean businessmen on June 12.

On June 11, the premier showed his gratitude toward his Singaporean counterpart Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong for a warm welcome and congratulated him for successfully hosting the 28th SEA Games.

Both leaders agreed to develop a stronger partnership and help consolidate the ASEAN Economic Community. General Prayut assured PM Lee that the Thai government is focusing on building a strong foundation for the country and that elections will take place next year.-VNA
