Bangkok (NNT/VNA) - Thai Airways International Plc. (THAI) of Thailand is set to unveil the world's No. 1 Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) Centre by the year 2021. 

UsaneeSangsingkeo, THAI Acting President, said that THAI has reached an initial agreement with Airbus to exchange necessary information and jointly evaluate the potential development of a TG MRO Complex Development at U-Tapao International Airport, which is part of the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) development plan 2017-2021. 

This agreement will drive Thailand to unveil the world's most modern MRO centre, equipped with cutting-edge innovation and technological advancements that adheres to international standards.

The centre will also support other aviation business industries that comply with the Government’s policies, serve airlines across the region and the world as well as create sustainable revenue for THAI and Thailand, in accordance with the Thailand 4.0 plan as the Gateway to Asia. 

Upon its completion, the new aircraft maintenance centre will be able to provide light and heavy maintenance for multiple aircraft types utilising the latest digital technology to assess and conduct aircraft maintenance with high performance evaluation technology. 

Furthermore, it will include an intelligent maintenance centre that is environmentally friendly and will reduce investment costs. The centre will also be able to train the best aviation technicians and engineers based on international standards, which will support the future expansion of aircraft maintenance business in the years to come.-NNT/VNA
