Thousands of police and soldiers were deployed across the Thai capital city of Bangkok on June 8 as the military administration tries to enforce a ban of political rallies.
Deputy national police chief Somyot Poompanmoung affirmed that around 6,500 soldiers and police had been sent to several key places believed to be the areas for protest.
Earlier, anti-coup protestors threatened to stage large-scale rallies in defiance of the curfew and the ban of all political assemblies.
