The Thai Department of Health will carry on the “Clean Toilets” project after its third phase has been given a green light by the cabinet.

After presiding over the opening ceremony of the “Clean Toilets” project, the department’s Director General Jessada Chokedamrongsuk said the department has been working hard to change all squat toilets to sitting toilets, especially for kids, in order to create healthy habits among the children as well as to teach them the correct way to use a toilet; which will benefit not only the children, but also the elderly.

The third phase of the plan, approved by the cabinet for 2013-2016, focuses on developing toilets in public areas including government buildings, educational institutions, tourist attractions, and gas stations, he added.-VNA
